Imagine feeling effortlessly supported by your body so you release into relaxation and flow ... imagine letting go of layers of  tension and stress ... imagine finding being more grounded and present to yourself and those around you ... imagine letting go of pain and stuckness and finding an easier way to be in the world ...

An Alexander lesson is a space where you can explore your feelings, ideas and beliefs about yourself and how you do things, and look freshly at how you go about the business of living. It helps you to become aware of patterns of moving and being which are not helpful for you — and to experience more free, relaxed and beneficial ones. We work with everyday movements such as sitting, standing, speaking and walking to explore breathing, balance, support and flow. We can also work directly with skills such as music, dance and horse riding etc. The Alexander Technique can help with a wide range of physical problems cause by stress, tension and strain, and is particularly well know as a holistic approach to helping back pain. It is also an excellent way to take care of yourself and maintain good functioning as you grow older.

The changes which unfold from the lessons can have a surprisingly deep effect on how you feel and function: you begin to experience a new (and almost magical) support from your postural system, resulting in a tangible feeling of being held and carried by your body. This leads to greater mental and emotional peace and calm. As a result you feel less tense and worried, and you have more energy and vitality. Problems such as chronic pain and stress often improve or disappear entirely. The positive effects of the Alexander Technique have been validated by numerous scientific studies.

The Alexander Technique can be particularly helpful for performers, and others who use a complex physical skill for enjoyment or to earn a living (you can read more about AT for performers here). 


Body Process Work

In addition to teaching Alexander Technique I also offer Body Process Work, which is a powerful powerful therapeutic approach which helps you to let go of and stuck feelings, trauma, disconnection, and other life challenges. See here for more information. 

Music and Voice

I have been a musician all my life, and can integrate voice work and music into Alexander work if desired. As well as being enjoyable in its own right this can really help to free things up, and offers another avenue to look at how we limit ourselves, and to find ways of being more open, expressive and connected to our bodies and feelings.
